| whiskerbiscuit | Nov 23, 2007 1:29pm | Hey Everyone, Happy Thanksgiving! I was wondering if someone had some advise for a "guppie" gmail user. I added Gmail skins - now I've noticed up in the right-hand corner there is a Old Version and New Version....ok, got that part. I changed my Gmail skins when I first loaded it, you know, made it purple changed some things around...now...whereever I changed those setting before is no longer there??...it's not listed under my Settings anymore? I've flipped back and forth from the Old Version to the New Version, I uninstalled and re-installed..? Hmmm, ok, what ding-dong thing am I doing wrong?...
Thanks for any help! Much appreciated!

Now, for your other problem with the "Gmail Skins" not having that setting anymore, that had happened to a lot of people in the past. You can still use that "Gmail Skins" add-on with the old Gmail if you follow this guide:
iceman7.googlepages.com/GmailSkinLabel.txt [iceman7.googlepages.com/GmailSkinLabel.txt]
On that page it explains that all you have to do is create a "label" (bottom left-side column under "chats").
Then you can change the color to any of the old colors listed on that page, as well as any other setting with the 1's, and 0's.
... also, if you like the color purple as your Gmail skin, try the Firefox add-on called "Stylish":
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108
... and then use this purple skin for Gmail 2: userstyles.org/styles/4108 [userstyles.org/styles/4108]
from this page: userstyles.org/styles/search/https%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com%2Fmail%2F [userstyles.org/styles/search/https%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com%2Fmail%2F]%

|
| | | crimesaucer | Nov 25, 2007 3:50pm | Just to clarify how to fix this:
First, use the old version of Gmail.
Keep the "Gmail Skins" add-on enabled and working.
Next, create a label called: gmskin:brown,1,0,0,0,0,0,0,1,1
Then, restart your Gmail (old version), and you will see it using the brown skin.
Then edit the label to change any of the color choices and settings, using this guide: iceman7.googlepages.com/GmailSkinLabel.txt [iceman7.googlepages.com/GmailSkinLabel.txt]
... that should work, but like I said in my other post, you should try the "Stylish" add-on with the new Gmail 2 skins (they look better and feel faster). |

| | | OrunXP | Nov 25, 2007 4:47pm | So, I left the Gmail Skins team because we're not doing anything and too many people are emailing questions: Gmail Skins will not work with Gmail 2 anytime soon (actually probably never).
So get stylish/greasemonkey =) |
